A meetup where people want to come back
The AI Runtime is a community of practitioners. Our meetups, our newsletter, our Slack, and any other space we run are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or technical choices. We do not tolerate harassment in any form.
The short version
Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down attendees, speakers, or organizers. Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate at any AI Runtime event.
Attendees violating these rules may be asked to leave the event without a refund, at the sole discretion of the organizers.
The longer version
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, race, age, regional discrimination, political or religious affiliation
- Unwelcome comments regarding a person's lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment
- Deliberate misgendering or use of "dead" or rejected names
- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behavior in spaces where they're not appropriate
- Physical contact and simulated physical contact without consent or after a request to stop
- Threats of violence or incitement of violence, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following (online or in person)
- Sustained disruption of discussion or talks
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others
- Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease
- Publication of non-harassing private communication without consent
- Publication of non-harassing private communication with consent but in a way that incites others to harass or threaten
The bar for speakers
The same code applies to talks. Slides, talks, and demos must be free of sexist, racist, or otherwise exclusionary content, including in code samples and example data. Sales talks dressed as practitioner talks are not harassment, but they violate our editorial bar; see the Call for Speakers.
Reporting
If you are being harassed by an attendee, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an organizer immediately at info@theairuntime.com, or in person at the event. Reports are confidential and will be taken seriously.
Organizers will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
Scope
This code applies to all AI Runtime meetups, the newsletter's comment sections, any Slack or Discord we run, and online interactions where attendees, speakers, or organizers represent the community. It applies to in-person and virtual events alike.
